With the increasing number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in the UK rising daily, the Government is considering closing businesses in an attempt to contain the spread of the virus.
The advice appears to be for employees to try and work from home, and while this may not be practical for all jobs, it is prudent for businesses to prepare for such an announcement.
How have we prepared?
At Pisys.net, it will be ‘business as usual’ should our employees be forced to work from home.
Thanks to the NFON telephone system and Microsoft Office 365 software we use, our staff will be able to work from home in the same way they would if they were in the office.
To this end:
- The Helpdesk will operate as normal to solve your IT problems
- Our staff will be contactable to discuss any specific IT queries you have by phone or email
- Your account manager will be contactable by phone or email as usual
So, If we are forced to close the business, you will not experience any change to the excellent service, and IT support you receive from us.
How can you prepare your business?
While we have reviewed our operating processes and put in place measures to ensure our business can continue to function if staff are required to work from home, it is prudent that you undertake a similar exercise.
Remember, Microsoft Office 365 and NFON are perfectly suited to this type of scenario and here’s how they can help you keep it “business as usual” if you are forced to close:
Microsoft Office 365:
Microsoft’s cloud-based platform; MS365 as it is known, is designed to allow users to access and edit emails, documents, files and more from any smart device connected to the internet.
As everything is stored in the cloud, it doesn’t matter where the user is located as they can work as if they were in the office without having to be there. All they need is a smartphone, tablet or laptop that is connected to the web, and they can continue as normal.
What’s more, it uses the same Microsoft applications staff are familiar with – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and more – so it really is ‘business as usual’ except they are working remotely.
This is another cloud-based service that uses the internet to function, this time, for your office phone.
By using NFON, the landline number can be re-directed to another number, e.g. the staff members personal mobile phone or, the staff member can take the handset home with them and use their at-home internet connection to make and receive calls as if they were in the office.
This is vital for the main business number to ensure no calls are missed, but for departments who need to be in regular contact with customers, suppliers and more; NFON allows them to make and receive calls on their office number but from home.
