Pisys.net team member Henry Boyle is set to take on the Paris Marathon on April 9th this year.
Henry, who works as IT Projects Manager at the Swansea head office of the UK wide IT firm, is raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, a cause very close to his heart.
Henry commented ’’Last year my girlfriend Kristy Lear who was 25 unfortunately passed away. Kristy was born with Cystic Fibrosis and at 21 required a double lung transplant to further her life. In February 2016, Kristy became ill again and was treated at Morriston hospital before being transferred to her specialist hospital -Harefield in London. Even with the top lung specialists in the country treating Kristy, there wasn’t a significant improvement to her health and Kristy passed away peacefully with her family and friends around her’’.
The race is the latest in a series of events Henry and his friends have undertaken to raise money in memory of Kristy and to educate people into how serious Cystic Fibrosis is.
Henry commented ’’In September 2016, twenty of us took part in an assault course called Born Survivor in Manchester. Together we raised over £2,000 in donations and after the success of that event, seven of us decided to take on our first marathon’’.
The seven friends who have named themselves ’The Learjets’, live in different parts of the UK so whilst they can’t train together, they are keeping track of each others progress using Strava, an app that allows synchronisation of training runs.
The team has set a target of £2,500 and donations can be made to their Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/thelearjetsBack to all articles
